The Week Begins on Thursday...

January has been a crazy and busy card making month! Quite literally..
My weeks i tend to believe begin on Thursda, Friday, Saturday, Sunday...in that order.

THURSDAY :-Business meeting
:- Meet the client, see samples
                     :- Haggle over the price
:- Talk over the designs..detail (beads? flowers? ribbon?..)

SATURDAY :- Meet the printers and source for materials, check if what the client wants is available
                         and how much it costs
:- Probably meet again with client, show them a sample,
finalize on designs and costs, confirm text, spell check, colours etc

SUNDAY     :- Oh, it was a weekend? ok, lets enjoy the weekend

MONDAY   :- Artwork goes to the printer, confirm everything is right, text, colours are matched
material availability is re-confirmed, and green light given to go ahead with printing

TUESDAY :- agonize over the job, "will it come out right, will I deliver the job on time, HOW MUCH                      PROFIT AM I GETTING FROM THIS, when am i sleeping for less than 4 hours this                      week...answer calls from clients with last minute changes, additions, etc...(ulcers, high                       blood pressure anyone???)

WEDNESDAY :- If there are ribbons being used on the cards, buy and cut and burn the edges( to                               prevent running), call printer, get the job....or no :-(...

THURSDAY :- In most cases, i get the job from the printer on Thursday, if not Wednesday. Now                        begins the work of folding, sticking, and tying the ribbons. Sleep depends on the number                        of cards being done... but as experienced before... from 11 onwards. 2.00 a.m isn't bad                        yes? and you get up at 6 to report to work... (sigh...sleep deprived designer)

FRIDAY :- Deliver Day... ulcers, high blood pressure, as i wait for the client to pick up their work,
anxiety attacks strike as i wait for feedback from the client on the job. So far so good, no                    mad brides, or grooms.... Good week right?

SATURDAY :- weekend? maybe.. but January has seen me repeating this cycle every week.......

But am loving it!!!!
I love what i do, am happy doing what i do.... so we can do this every week :-) :-) :-)

Shoe Heaven

"heaven is a shoe that looks pretty and doesn't hurt.." - unknown

There's nothing that can make or break an outfit than a pair of shoes. They can take your outfit from drab....... to fab........... Or put you on the fashion cops most wanted list. So take your time when selecting your pair of shoes. They don't have to be super expensive.... just well maintained, clean, WELL FITTING (i.e. your size) , COMFORTABLE........ and you're good to go.

Some of the most common shoes are:
1. Pumps
2. Open toe shoe (or peep toes)
3. Wedge Shoe

4. Sneakers
5. Boot
6. Sandals
7. Platform

Take a peek at some of these.

Pumps..... peep toe, studded, christian louboutin, miss sixty.. all pumps

YELLOW pumps with a wooden heel... aren't these to die for. They will definately make that outfit POP!! :-D

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN...sigh...

wedges

there's an endless variety of sandals for your feet for those hot and sunny days

OUTFIT POPPIN SHOES... :-) :-)
you simply cannot go wrong with these babies....!!

and for when you want to give your feet a rest, your flats don't have to look drab either.
Just get a pedicure and we are ready for take off :-)
Enjoy!!

Heat..

Honestly, it must be 78 degrees in nairobi... The heat is too much. So out come the dresses and shots and skirts and sandals and ballet flats and platforms and heels and...... everything screams summer in nairobi this season!
I got a couple of dress designs that i personally love and would like to have.....(hint hint)
Laid back and comfortable is more me..... but with the occasional eye catching piece to make your outfit pop! hehee

Whats your style?

a lovely babydoll bubble dress in plain white. simple..elegant...i like :-)

The detail below the bust makes the otherwise plain dress stand out. It gives it a classy edge don't you think?

The colour and the bow on the side just did it for me with this one

Colourful bubble dresses.. perfect for lazy sunny days

nothing says sun and the beach like a maxi dress :-)

theaz something about this dress.. i can't quite put my finger on it.. The colour is abit off... :-(
but the draw strings at the waist and the pleated bust are quite lovely

love the colour... and the detail below the waist... Love love :-)

sigh..... simplicity keeps getting better and better. Would this look nice with heels or flats? hmmm

one word..... LUSH!!!!

A structured dress and some heels... somebody say classy office wear! (its sleevless so you woun't die of the heat)

absolutely awesome :-)especially number one... yes?? with heels for a night out.. or flats for running around town.... yeah, i know you agree :-)

Musings

so av been a tad busy with work and i've also had a case of writers....bloggers block. I haven't been sure on what to write on..about.. But while looking up on other blogs today i suddenly had a light bulb moment..(teehee) I can write about anything!!! ANYTHING, absolutely.
Yes, my blog isn't..shudn't... will not be solely dedicated to cards. That would be quite narrow in terms of content, so am broadening out my blog. So you will see more articles, more pictures, more blogs that i personally like and i think you should too...
Basically a new and improved atienoamisi.
Feel free to suggest what i can write about...

have a nice day lovlies.. :-*
